My family and I made our own famous mickey ears at Aulani and this is how it went. When we arrived to the Pau Hana Room, they already had a table for our group with the ears on the table with our names on it. We decided to upgrade our ears to LED and it was done very quickly.
What is so cool about these ears is that all the materials used are made by locals, so big high-five to Disney for supporting locals.
They also gave us a sheet of paper to select which wood and flower pieces we wanted. The package comes with 2 wooden pieces with options of ukulele, surfboard, fish, etc and then there is a great variety of flowers to choose from. They have so many sizes, colors and different type of flowers which is so nice so you can work with any theme color. The price includes, if I remember right, 4 flowers. But don’t worry! You can always purchase more pieces as you are decorating your ears.
On the table they had a wireless hot glue machine and lots and lots of green leaves for your ears. The hot glue machines are very hot! They are not your typical at home ones, and the workers did warn us about it. One of my kids ended up getting burned and the staff quickly brought out an ice-pack and allowed us to stay a little longer even though the activity was over.
This activity has to be booked in advanced with the concierge and it does get fully booked quickly.
