A LŪ‘AU at Aulani

If you are wondering if booking Aulani’s A Lū’au is worth it, I have to say, it is! However, there are a few things I wish I knew before booking and arriving to the event.

We arrived to the show about 30 minutes before but the line was already very long and there was a huge group who kept on cutting the line (there was no workers supervising the line). While making the line, you can hear the “preferred sitting” crowd already having fun and playing music for them. So my take is, do arrive as early as you can since the line gets very long and if you can, book preferred seating.

When we finally got to the front of the line, they were giving everyone some beautiful typical Hawaiian necklaces and handing out alcoholic drinks for adults and non-alcoholic for children.

As soon as you enter you will find “stations” where you can play ukulele, get a temporary tattoo, make some flower bracelets, etc We really loved this part because it gave us an opportunity to interact with the performers and learn more about their culture.

Our seats where towards the end but the view was still good, the main stage is very big and well lighted. They have several podiums throughout the place which allows you to see the show well. But if I am fully honest, I wish we had a closer seat.

The food was amazing. It was buffet like and they would call table by table to come and serve. If you have a picky eater, don’t worry. Children get a type of bento meal delivered to the table along with special sweets too. They get chicken tenders with mac and cheese, vegetables and pulled pork. For desert, they get brownie, vanilla cake and fruit with mickey shaped marshmallow.

When we booked our tickets, there was not a “preferred sitting” option but I wish we have paid the extra money since they were able to enjoy the pre-show activities with a smaller crowd, a much shorter line and they get to sit all the way in the front.
